We hope everyone is ok. Remember if you need any help, have any questions please get in touch we will do what we can to help all our families. We have seen some wonderful work over the first few weeks of remote learning and have really enjoyed seeing everyone each day in our live lessons.
Remember all of your work is on TEAMS - you will find activities, videos and links to help you with your learning.
Everyone will have an assembly page on TEAMS. This week's assembly is all about not giving up. We look at story where the main character didn't give up even when people told him to. We thought about times when things get tough and what we can do to get through.
Also on TEAMS I have asked each teacher to add a link to an active families challenge organised by the Mid Cornwall Sports Network. Take a look at see if you and your family want to take part.
Remember we are at the end of the phone or an email if you need anything!

School council decided to collect food for the charity Cornish Christmas box. The idea is that you create a box for a family so they can make a Christmas meal. Our aim was to make 3 boxes and we succeeded, we even added some extra bits to each box to make them even better. I'm sure they will be appreciated by a Cornish family. Thank you for everyone's donations they have been dropped at a collection point and will be distributed in time for Christmas.
We had a sprinkling of snow in Lanlivery today! This week our Christmas decorations have gone up and the school is begin to look very festive.
We will send you some details next week about the end of term and how we will be celebrating Christmas with the children. This year there are some things we will be unable to do but there will still be lots of ways to have fun!
The children have worked really hard this term and have made great progress so we will try and keep this up for the last two weeks before our break!
In the last few weeks we have organised different events to raise money. Before half term we had a wear what you want day, had lollies and ran races to raise money for Age UK. School council decided that they wanted to raise money for Age Uk as lots of elderly people have been lonely this year and have been missing their family. After half term we collected money for the Poppy Appeal by selling poppies to mark Remembrance day. Finally on Friday 13th November we had Pyjama day, drank milkshakes and a duck race to raise money for Children in Need.
We would welcome your feedback on the introduction of the new PSHE and RSE curriculum that has just been launched across the trust. As the DfE stated in July “Today’s children and young people are growing up in an increasingly complex world and living their lives seamlessly on and offline. This presents many positive and exciting opportunities, but also challenges and risks. In this environment, children and young people need to know how to be safe and healthy, and how to manage their academic, personal and social lives in a positive way. (Gavin Williamson Secretary of State for Education). The documentation can be found on our website under policies and PSHE. Please use the form on the website to leave feedback by the 22nd October. Thank-you.
We have appointed our school council representatives in Eagles class. The year 6 pupils had the opportunity write and present a speech to become chair to all the class through a Microsoft TEAMS link up, which they thought was cool! After the speeches and the votes it was a tie, so this year we will have co-chairs - Rocky and Charlie. We will be nominating a representative from the other two class who will make sure the views and ideas from all the classes are heard.
Reminders
Please make sure you have completed the home-school agreement. We currently have 30 still incomplete. Please can these be done ASAP.
You have been sent a link to sign up for a phone call for our Parents' evening before half term.
As the weather changes, please make sure children are prepared for PE and forest school!
We are two weeks in and we have been very impressed with how everyone has settled back in to school. This week we had our pre schoolers back and they had a lovely first day at school. There has been some great work happening in all the classes - great writing, maths work and art work. Keep it up!
Today we have sent 6 star of the week certificates out in the post, I wonder who will get them this week? Once the children have received them we will announce the stars in school.
Remember to check the class pages for a peek at what has been happening in the classrooms.
The summer has flown by and the first day back is just around the corner. The teachers have been busy arranging classrooms to be warm, inviting learning environments whilst also sticking to the new rules and giving some of the walls a fresh lick of paint.
We are looking forward to welcoming back lots of old faces as well as some new faces on Monday. Week 1 will be focused on getting to know each other again and re establishing relationships while we familiarise ourselves with the routine of being back at school.
We know, for some, the thought of coming back to school may cause some anxiety especially after having such a long time away, but we will be here to support you and help you get used to school again. If anything worries you please speak to us.
Please keep an eye out for an email at the end of the week with final details and reminders including PE, forest school, drop off and pick ups, before and after school, uniform ...
Remember you can visit your classroom on Friday morning, please email to arrange a 10 minute visit if you want to see how everything looks before the weekend. By the end of the week there will also be photos of the classrooms on the class pages.
In the meantime, enjoy your last few days before school starts again.
Miss Howell
On Friday, we said a very sad goodbye to our amazing year 6 cohort. Most of this group have been at Lanlivery since Pre-school.
This group, more than any others, have been through lots together and have made bonds that I hope will last a lifetime. They are also been very unfortunate to be taught by me for nearly 5 years!
They have created memories that they can treasure from trips, residentials and adventures.
They have all made outstanding progress and have come a long way in the last 8/9 years. I am sad, that we couldn't give them the traditional send off. But, they have had their own unique goodbye that I hope they enjoyed. The squeals and screams as they were being soaked in the water fight suggested that they had a lovely end to primary school.
We wish every one of them the best of luck and cannot wait to hear all about your achievements and successes. Your leavers video is on Seesaw so you can have another watch.
For everyone else, we have just over 1 more week of term. We will be welcoming the year 5s in for a few days to prepare them for September. Soon we will send out more details about September. Thank you to everyone for you patience and understanding over the last few months. We have enjoyed hearing updates from everyone and seeing the fantastic work you have been doing. We are busy preparing to welcome you all in September.
Have a fabulous week!!
